Modernizing Airport Communication Systems: How LST Upgraded Ryan Airfield’s ATC Tower

LST recently partnered with the Tucson Airport Authority (TAA) to modernize the Ryan Airfield (RYN) Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT). Our team delivered comprehensive project management and engineering support for the full replacement of the tower’s aging communications infrastructure including the voice switch system, VHF radios, digital recorder, altimeter, GPS, and related peripheral communications equipment.

Following completion of final engineering plans, specifications, and  estimates (PS&E), LST managed the end‑to‑end acquisition and construction process, ensuring that all phases were executed efficiently and on schedule. The upgraded RYN ATCT is now fully operational on a modernized communications system, enhancing reliability and supporting safer tower operations.

Why This Matters for Airports
