Demonstrating technical excellence and mission focus, the EPICS Task Order 11 VSAT Installation Team has achieved the successful installation of a new Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) system at Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Karl Johnson, Jeff Lawrey, Kurt Marshall, and Vang Xiong, who support AJW-15 under EPICS Small, led the effort as part of ongoing work to strengthen the telecommunications infrastructure supporting this critical radar and communications facility. The upgraded VSAT system plays an important role in maintaining reliable communications for Caribbean airspace operations managed by the Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZMA ARTCC).
The installation included placing the antenna, grounding and cabling, assembling the VSAT, installing equipment, and transitioning services to ZMA ARTCC. The team completed all tasks safely and successfully.
This work demonstrates the EPICS Task Order 11 team’s dedication to mission-critical infrastructure.
